Now modules can be more the 2 layers! This will make it easier to make building blocks that are more complex.
Category: Changelog
New Feature: Bi-Directional Clearance Visualization
Routing traces just got easier. Display of clearance on clearance on both sides of traces makes it easier to see where you can route traces. This reflects the largest clearance defined out of all of the clearance rules for the given trace.
New Feature: Refdes Renumbering
Reorganizing your schematics is easier than ever! Just click the “Renumber Refdes” button to renumber component reference designators in order from left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
New Feature: Pour Routing Cursor Location
It’s now easier to be precise with pour outlines from the get go. See the cursor position and the distance from the last placed point during pour creation.
New Feature: Improved Assisted Routing
Version 1 of STAR constrained all traces to a grid that did not necessarily line up with the grid for the rest of the design. Version 2 ensures that the start and end points go where you click, and will snap as if you were drawing a regular trace.
New Feature: Automatic Via Net Attachment
No longer do you need to set the net attachment manually for stitching vias. Vias automatically get their attachment set to the same net as the pour they are placed in as you place them.
New Feature: D shaped padstacks
More options for padstack shapes! Choose a half-rounded rectangle shape or define your own arbitrary polygon in the component editor. This makes it easier to complicated footprints exactly to the manufacturer’s recommendations!
New Feature: Clearer rule editing in the constraint tool
There are lots of parameters that can be configured for design rule evaluation. We’ve cleaned up the parameter specification, making it easier to specify the values that are important to your design.
New Feature: Faster snapping, faster tool startup, lower memory usage
We’ve improved the performance of snapping and alignment in the PCB layout tool. This means faster trace routing and component movement when guide snapping is turned on. This is most noticeable on large, dense layouts.
New Feature: PCB Layout Tutorial
Learning how to use Upverter is faster and more fun with the new interactive PCB layout tutorial. The tutorial walks you through the layout features of Upverter. The interactive tutorial watches you work and provides you feedback so you can learn by doing!
