Design of the Week: Avionics Power Board

This week we’re featuring a design by Upverter user aknauss. His Avionics Power Board design takes power from a 5 cell lithium polymer battery and converts it to 12 V, 8.5 V and 6 V power rails. These rails are used to drive servos, a mini pc, and other avionics electronics.

The conversion is done using the LM2678 switching regulator from Texas Instruments. This step-down voltage regulator can provide 5 A of current at a variety of voltages.

Need an efficient step-down converter in your design? Aknauss’ design might be a good starting point for using the LM2678.
